Templates for DIY Installation

Placement Instructions for TKS-1 Pocket Rout Template
Locate TKS-1 Pocket Rout (back of guitar)
- Line up vertical mark on template with right side of spring cavity.
- Line up horizontal line with front edge of tone block cavity.
- Use double stick tape to fix template to body of guitar.
- Use 3/4" deep, 1" diameter straight router bit for pocket rout cut.
NOTE: Set initial router bit depth to start cut 1/8" below surface of back of guitar. We use two (2) templates to set initial depth. After cutting all the way around, plunge router 1/4" deeper and cut again.

TKS-2/3 Template Set Placement Instructions
If you are installing a TK-2 of TK-3, your guitar does not have and existing top rout and spring cavity and these templates will help you cut these. Remove all parts from the body of the guitar including the old bridge, screws and wires. Remove pick guard and pickups. Make sure volume and tone knobs will not be in the way, remove if necessary. You will use the templates in this order:
- TK-2/3 Top Rout – template has a centerline and intonation line scribed on the side of the template that faces up.
- TK-2/3 Spring Cavity – no markings, full spring cavity shape.
- TK-2/3 Pocket Rout – template marked with two lines for side of spring cavity and front of tone block cavity.
Locate TKS-2/3 Top Rout (front of guitar)
Locate the centerline and intonation point of your guitar. Use masking tape on top of guitar body to draw centerline and intonation point. Locate TKS-2/3 Top Rout template as indicated below.
- Line up centerline and intonation point on template with centerline and intonation point on guitar.
- Use double stick tape to fix template to guitar body.
After locating template, use 1-1/2" deep by 3/8" diameter straight router bit to rout hole completely through the body of the guitar.
Locate TKS-2/3 Spring Cavity (back of guitar)
- Match portion of template that matches the Top Rout cut onto back of guitar.
- Use double stick tape to fix template to body of guitar.
- Use 3/4" deep by 3/8" diameter router bit to cut spring cavity.
Locate TKS-2/3 Pocket Rout (back of guitar)
- Line up vertical mark on template with right side of spring cavity.
- Line up horizontal line with front edge of tone block cavity.
- Use double stick tape to fix template to body of guitar.
- Use 3/4" deep, 1" diameter straight router bit for pocket rout cut.
